1994: My First Tattoo

1994: My First Tattoo

A few nice tattoos images I found:

1994: My First Tattoo tattoos
Image by armchairdj My first tattoo, done at some shop in Lansing, MI, in early 1994. It's Death of The Endless, a character from Neil Gaiman's comic "The Sandman." I went with my friend Jenny to some random artist we picked out of the phone book. She got a cool purple swirly comet-star thing on her forearm. I got this on my left bicep. I thought it would be cool to do an actual panel from a comic-book. They tattoo artist seemed dubious, and he warned me that it'd be unreadable in 10 years, but he did it. Originally it was black and white; I went back a couple of months later to add the blue background. More than a decade later it is, indeed, unreadable - and pretty cheesy. But it's my first tattoo, and I love it. Eventually, it'll be the one color part of an otherwise black-and-white sleeve. The now-illegible dialogue reads "And that's all I wanted to say." The original artwork, by Dave McKean, was from a safe-sex pamphlet called "Death Talks About Life" that was included in every Vertigo title one month. That's a banana she's holding. I'm sure you can guess what she just demonstrated with it.
